archiKID is a platform that explores built environments as a playground for interconnected knowledge and believes multidisciplinary learning is crucial for kids› modern thinking and for their expression and exploration skills.
archiKID team consists of a group of international award‐winning architects and designers who believe in the paramount importance of creative thinking in childhood education and hence, have launched special programs using architecture and the built environment as a methodology for playful, open‐end learning.
Methodologically, archiKID operates based on three pillars: “Design by Playing”, “Design through Making”, and “creating a playground for interconnected knowledge”. Today, archiKID’s programs focus on four categories; Developing curriculum, Curating public events (acting as a community builder), Designing educational devices (toys), and Planning space and curriculum (creating new concepts for the architecture of educational spaces emerging from the existing curriculum).
archiKID’s goal is based on providing opportunities to enhance children’s attention and curiosity toward their living spaces and surrounding environments to raise a generation of citizens who would be better decision‐makers in both personal and social terms. Hereby, we would like to extend our sincere thanks and regards to all people we have had the opportunity to work with, inspire, and be inspired by.
The current book which focuses on the educational aspect of archiKID activities in creating its workshops, would not come into existence without our students, our peers, and our team who rendered relentless support of insight and emotion to make this happen. We especially want to thank the individuals that helped make this happen. Complete thanks to Prof. Jose Etcheverry, Sabramonia Anantha Krishnan, and Reza Pourvaziry.
